The set of rounded-corner photos have dated frame details from May to September, 1936 with brief pencil notes written on backs. 30 photos in the collection although some are duplicates.

Portrait of young man in white, Navy uniform. Text with photo reads "A. Bertil Swanson. Douglas resident. Graduate of Saugatuck High School. A career Navy petty officer. Was stationed at Pear Harbor at time of Japanese attack, 7 December 1941. Served throughout remainder of World War II. Retired to Calif. where he died, 19 May 1983. Son of John Albert and Alfrida Swanson. John died at 49, leaving Alfrida with three children (Bertel, Ragnar and Doris) to support.
