From "Saugatuck Through the Years" by James Sheridan, page 273. The latter was purchased by Doc Heath and moved across the street to become the Village News Store. Crow's new shop was an outstanding one which was spacious enough to hold four or five chairs. The summer time shave and haircut business was good enough in those days to allow Crow to import several extra barbers during the summer season to handle it. In addition, he often had on hand an apprentice or two learning the trade. The rear portion of the building had been developed for a billiard and card room. One barber, Dominick Leoci, returned for several years from Chicago and finally acquired the business for himself when Crow decided to forsake barbering and become a restaurant operator by securing the restaurant in 1924, just next door to his shop. Leoci spent the rest of his life here though he finally moved his shop to smaller quarters on the north side of Butler Street. The site of the Crow restaurant is now part of the landscaped area of the Citizen's Bank. During its years it was owned at various times by James F. Davis, who built it in 1913, Crow, Seaton Arends, Dewey Jeannette and Ivan Arends. In its last years, it housed the Soda Lounge. Quite a sizeable number of Butler Street buildings are now in their second century and with care and good fortune who is to say that they won't be serving the public for many years to come.
