Memories of Camp Gray
Archive
DVD of Camp Gray Memories from a former staff member.
20-minute combination of home movies and still photos/postcards/maps with narration by Edwin Camps. Historic footage mixed with more current video taken at a reunion of staffers in the 1996.
Edwin Camps explains how he got involved in the camp through his Chicago neighbor, Mr. Walker, who was manager of Presbyterian Camps. Edwin then describes traveling to the camp (train to Fennville, last 11 miles on camp bus) with movie footage from the 1940s illustrating the journey. Next comes photos of staffers including Rowena Walker camp librarian, Oliver Niel camp chef, and many young men named Bill.
Then a tour of the buildings and what he remembers about in each one.
Video concludes with memories about Mt. Baldhead, the Big Pavilion and Saugatuck.
