An original watercolor painting by Randall Higdon, depicting the Chicora's final hours before sinking in 1895, was commissioned by the SDHC for the 2002 exhibit "Storm, Fire and Ice" and companion publication. In 2012 the painting was digitally widened, enhanced with text and reproduced as a mural for the Francis Lifeboat display and shipwreck exhibit in the History Center's garden.
