Holiday Hill, Underwood Cottage
Photograph
Snow-covered Holiday Hill as seen from the east banks of the Kalamazoo, prior to 1960.
This image was featured as History Mystery #38 with the question "The photo is circa 1950. One of these buildings was destroyed as a result of a famous fire" and the solution "Holiday Hill is the building in the center. On May 6, 1960, the Big Pavilion burned to the ground. Embers blew across the river, starting Underwood's cottage afire. The building is just visible on the far left."
This entry also includes other images of the Underwood Lodge and its replacement, the Jane Underwood residence at 130 Perryman.
