Box of Jarvis Medals

Jeweler's shipping box containing 15 silver-tone metal pendants. Eight pendants have a pair of horseshoes motif; seven have a winged victory motif. All 1.25-inch-diameter pendants are adorned with a pair of curved laurel branches and a connecting scroll. The backs are smooth and blank.
The box was mailed from the Emblem & Badge Manufacturing Co. of Providence, Rhode Island to L.D. Jarvis of Saugatuck in 1948. The sturdy box has wire loops that protruded through the box lid and is covered in brown packing tape, postmarks, stamps and labels.

Leroy Dillon Jarvis was a civic-minded jeweler and optometrist who had his shop at 314 Butler Street. He was the Saugatuck High School band director from 1925-1949 and donated the land for the high school athletic field.
