The 14-minute video includes interviews with Marsha Kontio, Dawn Schumann (story of Nancy Budd and the non-correct shutters); Jim Schmiechen (on the proposed new use as a Discovery Center); Douglas Union School alumni Bill Giles and Johnson Fox (recalling the building's layout and the teacher's uncanny ability see what the students were doing, even when the teacher was turned away to face the blackboard); Tom Van Howe interviews with Carl Wicks (recalling his first day of school in 1926 which was also the first day for teacher Mary Hans), Kathy (Christie) McMahon (recalling her beloved, red-headed teacher Gladys Hadaway and being allowed to get lunch at Bill's Diner [EverydayPeople] and Neva Tyler's Store [Respite] for candy, the loss by fire of the Douglas IGA), Fred Hamlin (about don't confess that you didn't do the work), Florence Ekdahl McCarn (about how younger kids learned from watching the older kids in a multi-grade schoolhouse), Joe Milauckas (about saving the building), June Bowman (about why the building should be preserved) and Howard E. Schultz (about the stage in the upstairs classroom).
