Louis Bonsib 1892 – 1979 Gleason Fish House, Saugatuck, Michigan 1963 | oil on canvas Notes: Louis William Bonsib was born in Vincennes, Indiana, a son of John F. a merchant, and Etta M. Griffith Bonsib. In 1917, Louis, married Marietta A. Jacobs. He worked as an engraving salesman and later became the president of an advertising company. Bonsib was active as a painter and teacher. He earned his AB Degree from Indiana University in 1916 and in 1971 was awarded an honorary doctorate by Vincennes University. Louis exhibited widely, including the Hoosier Salon, Herron Art Institute and the Maine Art Museum in Ongunquit. The Gleason Fish House, the subject of this painting, stood on the bank of the Kalamazoo River on the Saugatuck waterfront. *adapted from the Archives of askART.
