The Pavilion
Print
Lithograph depicting the Big Pavilion and the Kalamazoo river, along with many small boats and figures.
This lithograph depicts the Big Pavilion and the Kalamazoo river, along with many small boats and figures. It captures a familiar scene of Saugatuck in the mid-20th century. It also gives insight into the medium and how images are made. A lithograph must be drawn backward in order for the image to print with the correct orientation. This was not done in this case so the Big Pavilion appears to be on the opposite side of the Kalamazoo River from where it stood before it burned down in 1960.
