DescriptionDespite a wide variety in personalities and interests, Michigan First Ladies have undoubtedly influenced many of the actions which have contributed to the development of the state. Unfortunately however this may never be completely documented because historical records contain so few references to the wives of governors. Photographs as well as information would have been unattainable in many instances if it had not been for the cooperation of relatives or friends of the first families. It is the purpose of the author to provide for the first time a record of Michigan's First Ladies before remaining materials and recollection have faded away and become lost to future generations.
