These cases were used to carry roller skates, very possibly to the Big Pavilion or the East Shore Pavilion Skating Rink. The cases are battered, suggesting they were well used by exuberant youths. Betty Lytle (1916-1973) was a roller skating celebrity who was at the height of her fame in the 1940s. The Ware Brothers Chicago Roller Skate Company manufactured skates from 1905 to the 1990s.
