1976 letter referencing J Serene Chase, the land sold in 1883 for the Chase School District #5 that was located at the Blue Star Highway and 126th Ave. The school was closed in 1949 and annexed to the Fennville Public School system in 1956. James Serene Chase purchased the land and sold the building to Ralph Sheldon who moved it to Pier Cove for use as a home. [The "Old Chase School/Joseph Robbins Home" is listed as at 2351 Lakeshore Dr. in the 1999 historic structure survey.]
The letter is addressed to Robert Wolbrink but unsigned. The author is likely Margaret Chase.
